The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports Binders Art Supplies & Frames has signed a lease for a new store at the more than $200 million redevelopment of the former Sears building on Ponce de Leon Avenue into a hip hub of apartments, office space, restaurants and shops in Atlanta. “Ponce City Market promises to become one of the cultural epicenters of Atlanta, and we are thrilled to be a part of it,” said Howard Krinsky, president-owner of Binders. “Each of our stores has its own personality and contributes to the surrounding neighborhood in various ways. Welcome to the world Emma Jane Shoham, born 6:02 pm June 27th to proud parents AJ (Jerry’s Connecticut) and Monika Shoham. All are doing fine, but especially baby Emma at a healthy 7lbs 4oz  and 20″ long.

With sadness we report that Sue Stevenson, Principal of Alliance Sales & Marketing, died on June 7 after a lengthy illness. She began her sales career in office products in 1982 as a consumer rep for LA Ward & Associates. She eventually opened Alliance Sales & Marketing in Southern California and expanded into the Art and Paper Craft Industry throughout the west coast. She was known by family, friends and those who knew her as a kind person. A private service was held on June 14.

0c7008eThere’s a new president at Notions Marketing in Grand Rapids, MI. Adrienne L. Stevens is replacing Jay Klein who retired after having served since 2002. Adrienne was CEO of SNAP!office, an office design and furniture manufacturer in Michigan.

Karl Wiest reports that Swain’s in Glendale, CA has filed for court protection under Chapter 11 statutes while it works on a financial reorganization plan.

STABILO has broken ground on a dramatic new office building in their home town of Heroldsberg Germany.  Cologne architects mvmarchitekt + Strong architecture, collaborated to design the “cube” which is rich in sustainability: The data center is cooled with fresh air and geothermal energy. The building will house 100 employees from sales  and marketing, a STABILO Store and the company’s data center by the end of 2014.

STABILO has created a new senior leadership structure designed to speed-up product development. The Advanced Management Board will include Andrea Schmölz, responsible for human resources, IT, purchasing;  Horst Brinkmann Marketing, sales, research and development, and Dieter Seger, production, logistics, and technology development.

Bay Area Artist Jessi Sabogal and Montana Cans Collaboration:  Jessi Sabogal is a first generation, Colombian-American, female graffiti artist whose work includes designing the cover for Plume Books’ 20th Anniversary edition of Allison Dorothy’s Bastard Out of Carolina, a time-lapse tribute to the Egyptian revolution that was featured on the front page of CNN.com, and her mural at Facebook headquarters was their first mural commissioned from a female artist. See her latest work in this time-lapse video where she uses an intricate layering technique with stencils and Montana Cans on canvas, to create a tribute piece to the children of Cuba.
