GOLDEN Introduces Mixing Set Based on Classic Theory
The new Classic Theory Mixing Set from GOLDEN provides an ideal starting place for artists who are interested in exploring a more traditional range of colors. The colors in this set all played significant roles in the painting of the 19th century and earlier. This was a period when pigments derived from minerals, plants, and metals dominated, and just a few early synthetic colors were making their way onto the artist’s palette.
The selection in this set will allow artists to easily mix a wide range of naturalistic colors found in landscape, still life, and portraiture, and provides a balanced approach between opaque and transparent effects central to classical techniques. Underpaintings can be quickly blocked out using mixtures based on Cadmium Yellow Light, Cadmium Red Light, and Prussian Blue Hue, while veils of depth and glowing luminosity can be achieved by using Indian Yellow Hue, Alizarin Crimson Hue, and Ultramarine Blue. Viridian Green Hue allows for a wider range of greens, as well as provides a useful compliment for shading many of the warmer reds and browns.
The Classic Theory Color Mixing Set is accompanied by a valuable Color Mixing Guide, with proportion suggestions to step the artist through color exploration and the development of color mixtures. This great resource illustrates the wide range of mixtures that can be achieved using a limited palette of eight colors. This new Classic Theory Color Mixing Set (GD0907-0) begins shipping late August 2012, so please contact your Customer Service Representative for further information.
Store Displays Using GOLDEN NAMTA Panels
We received a wonderful note and some great pictures back from a few retail stores demonstrating their use of the GOLDEN panels they won from the NAMTA booth. Take a look at how the Jerry’s store in CT and The Drawing Board in Montpelier, VT chose to display the panels!
