Industry News: NAMTA Board Meets

The NAMTA Board and Executive Committee met October 3-5 in Charlotte, NC and accomplished many initiatives on behalf of the membership and the industry. This meeting was the annual review of the strategic plan, which was left basically intact, with discussions centering on how to accomplish those goals and objectives. Additional decisions and initiatives discussed included:

• The operating budget for ’09 was approved with no increase in dues.

• A substantial increase in the educational content at the NAMTA show in Louisville will be made.

• The traditional seminars will be conducted on Wednesday, May 6, but will be held in the afternoon, allowing some attendees to travel in that morning rather than having to come in the night before.

• Two large general sessions with keynote speakers and solid business information will be conducted both Thursday and Friday mornings (May 7 and 8 ) from approximately 8-10 AM, with the show opening each day immediately thereafter.

• Saturday morning, May 9, will feature three concurrently running member sector meetings for retailers, manufacturers’ reps and suppliers.

Be on the lookout for continuously unfolding information on speakers and topics for all of these sessions, but for now the key is to “save the dates” and plan your schedule around these dates and events.

This is just a brief recap of a few things the Board and Executive Committee discussed.  The complete minutes will be voted on for approval at the next meeting and then posted on the NAMTA website for all members to view.
