    Check Out Landfill Art, the Ultimate in Green Art Projects

    LAND-FILL ART; AN ARTIST RECLAMATION PROJECT Ken Marquis of Marquis Art in Wilkes-Barre, PA has created a Global Art Project that  involves the recycling of more than 1,000 landfill automobile hubcaps by turning them into Metal Canvases and, subsequently, art. It’s a non profit effort and will, eventually, involve artists from all over the world. The project got started with local artists and is now expanding statewide to  artists from every county in Pennsylvania. The grassroots project needs your help making connections with an artist in every state as well as artists around the globe.     Industry News: NAMTA Board Meets

    The NAMTA Board and Executive Committee met October 3-5 in Charlotte, NC and accomplished many initiatives on behalf of the membership and the industry. This meeting was the annual review of the strategic plan, which was left basically intact, with discussions centering on how to accomplish those goals and objectives. Additional decisions and initiatives discussed included: • The operating budget for ’09 was approved with no increase in dues. • A substantial increase in the educational content at the NAMTA show in Louisville will be made. • The traditional seminars will be conducted on Wednesday, May 6, but will be held in the afternoon, allowing some attendees to travel in…
